Renewal of Baptism Planned for September

This summer, all friends and members of Trinity Presbyterian Church are invited to take a small water bottle and fill it with water at some place where you spend time this summer. It may be water from a beach, from a river, from a pond, or from the tap. If you don't travel anywhere this summer, you are invited to bring water from your home. On September 11, 2011, we will pour our waters into one vessel as a sign of both our unity and diversity and with that water we will have a renewal of our baptism. Bottles are in the Narthex and gathering area.

Camp Kumquat 2011 (6-8th graders)

An educational day camp led by student farmers of the Burning Kumquat, Washington University's student-run organic garden.

Hello all! My name is LeeAnn, or Arugula-Ann, and I'm so happy to announce that Camp Kumquat will be having its second year this summer! Dragonfly and Chestnut created a truly amazing program, and, with their help and the help of many other supporters of the Burning Kumquat, we will explore where our food comes from with a new group of students.

We have some very exciting days planned for the campers. A chicken farmer from Our City Farm will bring a chicken to the farm and teach us about raising chickens and the symbiotic relationships between farm animals and plants. A local bread baking expert from Companion Bakery will teach us about the magic of yeast and make pizzas with us. Bon Appetit management company will be donating all of the snacks and lunches for the campers, and campers will work with Bon Appetit chefs to learn about pickling and how to run a large-scale kitchen.

We are still looking for campers to fill up the sessions. If you're interested,or if you have questions, please email campkumquat@gmail.com

Camp Kumquat runs from 8 am to 2 pm, with aftercare until 3 pm.

Session 1: June 13-24 (incoming 6th graders)
Session 2: July 5-15 (incoming 7th graders)
Session 3: July 18-29 (incoming 8th graders)

We have a sliding payment scale for campers this summer: families can pay anywhere from $25 to $200, depending on their self-assessed ability to pay.

Terry Main and I will be the camp counselors this summer, while Amanda Wolf will be managing the farm and coordinating sales at North City Farmers' Market and to our Campus dining services company--Bon Appetit. The garden is already full of life and delicious greens and strawberries!

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the largest education, support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all those touched by these illnesses. This includes persons with mental illness, their families, friends, employers, and the law enforcement community and policy makers. The goals of NAMI Walks are to fight the stigma that surrounds mental illness and to build awareness that the mental health system in this country needs to be improved.

Independence Center is the second largest Clubhouse Model psychiatric rehabilitation program in the world, serving over 200 members each day in the St. Louis metro area. We are a colleague training base, training members and staff from all over the world in our model of rehabilitation. We help our members find housing, employment, education, friends, and provide a community where one is needed, wanted and expected each day. If you haven't visited, please consider coming by to have a tour and lunch with me sometime!

We collaborate with NAMI to fight stigma, build awareness, and on helping our members find employment opportunities.
