Series: Gnosticism and the Value of Heresy
--Ron Norgard, Adult Education Coordinator
In the next class on The Value of Heresy: Our Gnostic Connection Bob McClelland will look into the issue of spiritual maturity as generated by the Gnostic perspective of faith. Of great importance will be how the established church can be revitalized by engaging in dialogue with what is best in our search for knowing who we are as the friends of Jesus. We meet at 9:30 amin Weems Chapel.
On June 23rd, Bob McClelland concludes his series on The Value of Heresy: Our Gnostic Connection. What are some of the implications for the Church that our Gnostic connection can make possible? Throughout history many have recognized that we are not born whole in our needed knowledge, but grow through stages to maturity. Gnosticism is a form of growth that takes seriously the command to “Know Thyself.” In the growth of the Church this knowledge expressed itself in the form of learning to be a “friend” of Jesus. The bonds this created we know as the priesthood of the believers. You are invited to join with some of these friends here at 9:30 am in Weems Chapel.
