The Thicket
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them"
- Matthew 18:20

the thicket

Join us as we gather among the trees of God's Creation at the beginning of each morning. After a brief introduction for the day, the children are off to their workshop.

God's Creation

"God saw everything that was made, and indeed, it was very good"
- Genesis 1:31

Come travel with us through God's Creation each Sunday, as we explore the Bible and how God has worked through many lives over time and how God works in our lives today.

Divine Inspirations
"Wonderful are your works"
- Psalm 139:15

Divine Inspirations

Here among the clouds is our art workshop, where children artistically represent their understanding of the Bible stories they are learning.

Acts of God
"Proclaim the mighty acts of God who called you out of darknesss into God's marvelous light"
- 1 Peter 2:9

Acts of God

In our drama and puppet workshop of light and darkness, children re-enact the Bible story on stage with costumes and puppets.

The Tent
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"
- John 1:1

The Tent

In the shelter of our Bible knowledge and storytelling tent, children learn first hand the Bible story and explore its meaning for those who lived then and how it applies to our lives now.

Star Theater
"Praise God, sun and moon, praise God, all you shining stars!"
- Psalm 148:3

Star Theater

In our theater under the stars, children see the Bible story come alive for them on screen in our cinema workshop.

Joyful Noise
"Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy"
- Psalm 47:1

Joyful Noise

Children use song and movement to express themes from the scriptures.

Brainstorms
"The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps" - Proverbs 16:9 The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightning lit up the world"
- Psalm 77:18

Brianstorms

Among the storm and crashes of lightning in our computer workshop, children explore Bible stories in depth through a familiar technology to them.

Tastes of Heaven

Tastes of Heaven
"O taste and see that the Lord is good"
- Psalm 34:8

Through cooking, the children will get a "taste" of what it was like back in Bible times.

God's Creation is based on the Workshop Rotation Model, which recognizes that we each learn in different ways.

Grade School
Different volunteers lead each week and the lessons are simple Bible concepts learned through stories, crafts and videos. Worship school is open to children Pre-K through 2nd grade. During Christian Education time, the following classes are offered in classrooms downstairs in the Children' Center: Pre-K and Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, 3rd and 4th grades, and 5th and 6th grades.

Confirmation Class
This class is open to all who are in 7th and 8th grade, or who have not been confirmed. The class objectives are to prepare these young adults with as much information about who we are as God's people, and how we function as a church to become faithful servants of God. The class is a journey to understand the responsibilities of being persons of faith. The confirmation class meets on Sunday mornings and holds additional fellowship actvities.

Senior High
Students in grades 9-12 meet Sundays in the Youth Lounge, located off the Dining Room on the church's lower level. Fellowship meetings are held weekly on Sunday evenings.

Post-High School
The Scholin-Weems Scholarship Fund, created in memory of two young men from the congregation, is a fund set aside to assist young adults with scholarships to the college of their choice. Awards are given annually.
